| What is it about the Z community that sets it apart from other car communities? The Z community seems to have a more mature demographic that cares more about performance modifications, rather than useless aesthetic ones, typical of other import vehicle communities. Not that other car communities don't have similar characteristics, but Z guys help one another. It's a community that embraces the "do it yourself" approach that has turned many enthusiasts into mechanics. Is it the aesthetics or the mechanical composition that attracts you to the Z? Growing up, I was never a huge fan of the Z32 styling like many others were. I was first drawn in by the mechanical side. To me, it's one of the best RWD platforms you can get for the money. The performance is the main attraction. Everything else is just icing on the cake. The aesthetics quickly grew on me after I started to pay more attention to that side of the vehicle and I'm in love with the lines of the car more than ever. What makes the Z different from owning another type of hot rod? Your typical "hot rod" has more space in the engine bay. The Z is different because of its performance potential, sometimes disguised by the clean, stock lines of the body. Other vehicles may have huge wings, vents and scoops, but the Z works fine without all this extraneous packaging. Do you find yourself having personal relationship with others based on your shared love for the Z? Absolutely. Z ownership has allowed me to make many friendships with others who share the same interest in the cars. When one Z owner is having a problem, or working on his or her car, other Z owners are always nearby to help out. I've even dated a couple girls who drove Zs themselves. How would you classify the Z community? Family? Fraternity? Friends? Acquaintances? I wouldn't go as far as family, but a "fraternity" seems like the best word to describe the community. We are a group of friends who share a common bond. Like I mentioned, Z owners help each other out in times of need. Does owning a Z mean more than just owning a car? It's just a car. A car that you can have more fun with than your ordinary FWD econobox. If you couldn't drive the Z what would you drive? Probably a Supra. Something else that was RWD. Are you part of any local clubs? If so how involved are you? Yes. I spend a lot of time with the guys in my local car club. I rarely miss our weekly meetings. In the past, I've coordinated events, had T-shirts made and other activities to interact and have fun with motor vehicles together. Have you met any people in the Z community that have become close friends? Yes, quite a few. This is the best part about the Z community. What is it that would entice people to join the Z community? The Z is a car that is for those who aren't afraid to get their hands dirty and do things themselves. Some figure this out the hard way. I'm not sure if people who are new to the Z realize the community that surrounds them at first; I know I didn't. The vehicle itself may draw you in, but it's the experiences, the people and the life-long relationships that keep you there.
